Additional Information

“Horseback Sheep” is a traditional sports competition prevailing in Central Asia. It can be said to be the Central Asian version of the polo match. Participants rode horses on the field, vying for a goat’s body that was cut off the head, grabbing it into his own hands, and then throwing it into the scoring circle; sometimes the goat would be replaced by a sheep or a calf. The sport was called “Buzkashi” in Tajikistan and Afghanistan, and the literal translation was “Capture the Goat”.
