Caves and Crevices by Cathy Gilday

This painting was inspired by Mount Borradaile, (Awunbarna) situated in the Northern Territory. The monolith structures are so colourful and bold and remind me that nature is such a wonderful catalyst for the making of art. The caves and crevices make the perfect subject for abstract realism. I have used a combination of acrylics, oil pastel, oil paint and sealed charcoal to achieve bold colour and texture in this work.
