Chartreuse I & II – Diptych by Wendy Peters – original oil on canvas.

I decided to paint these beautiful poppies in colours not seen naturally in the flower, using a variety of blues. greens and burnt sienna. As I was painting the liqueur Chartreuse came to mind, I could almost taste the flavours of lime, citrus spice and fresh cut herbs.

It also reminded me of the 80’s when we always made cocktails at our dinner parties, many different varieties, lots of different jewel colours, not the best idea before a 3 course meal, but those were the days.

Painting close up in an unusual colour way gives these poppies a more contemporary abstracted feel.

Signed on the front. Unframed, ready to hang. Framing available. Overall sizing with a 20cm gap between the two is 120cm width x 60cm height.
