Additional Information

Chemo Sucks by Rosemary Legat – There was a period of time I created a number of different character/personality portraits on my layered intuitive bases.

Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, spray paint and a few self-made collage pieces.

With this piece I wasn’t challenging anyone specific nor was I creating a self portrait however as she developed she looked as naked and raw as I felt and looked during a specific period of time, a few years earlier.

I continued to develop her until I felt she was done.  Regardless of how I created her, I see many emotions when I look into her eyes…..surprise, sadness, vulnerability, strength.  I felt all these things and more when I spun myself around in the hairdressers chair to look at myself for the first time in the mirror after having my head shaved.

I know there are so many of you out there who can relate, therefore I’ve decided to list this unique, emotive and personal piece.

Chemotherapy does suck but this piece is more about honouring endurance and acknowledging that you are stronger than you ever thought you were.

As Chemo Sucks requires framing to hang, my artwork gallery includes examples of how she could look framed and hung.

Signed on the front.

I paint organically therefore I have not trimmed back any rough paper edges.  These can be left exposed or covered during any framing process.

Please check dimensions, in situ images are for display purposes only and may not be to scale.
