Inspiration:
When creating this piece, I wanted people to feel as if they could dive into this painting. Though I know there’s a shark, black tip reef sharks are generally safe when not threatened. When I see white sand and clear water I feel a sense of calm and urge to be emerged within it, to feel that silky water on my skin, like a welcoming home hug from the ocean. The yellow fish enhance the clarity of the water through their clear details and contrasting colours.

I drew inspiration from my previous visits to the Great Barrier Reef, one of which I saw a black tip reef shark gliding through the ocean. There were contrasting reef fish all around, and the water was as clear as glass. The underwater scene portrays a beautiful reef shark gliding through pristine water. The crystal clear ocean shows the sun’s reflection off the sand, shark and contrasting yellow reef fish.
