I started this painting in a workshop and thought about how to turn it into a painting that reflected my own ideas and impressions, using some photos taken on an early morning walk at Yamba, NSW. I wanted it to be a depiction of a sunrise in any beach location, with the promise of a new day. I also wanted it to convey the feeling of a fresh start and the optimism that each new day can bring. I painted the rocks and waves with a palette knife to give it lots of texture.
