Additional Information

This beautiful atmospheric painting is an original artwork produced in my studios on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The painting is reminiscent of the Warburton Ranges in Victoria, Australia. I have titled the work: ‘Mountain Ash’. The painting has been painted directly on a birch ply cradle board with gallery hooks attached, ready for hanging.

Many layers of cold wax, dry pigments, oil paints, oil stick and Caran D’ache watercolour crayons were applied to the surface during the production of the painting. I used turpentine mixed with calcite, razor blades, sticks, brayers, squeegees and my own hand made paper stencils to construct this artwork.

My intent for this painting is to captured the essence of an early morning walk through the Warburton Ranges when the mist is just lifting gently in the distance. My view is looking through the stunningly beautiful Mountain Ash forests. This mystical painting has been influenced by a visit to the beautiful National Parks in Victoria.
