Colour Field 27 by Prue Crome –  is an abstract oil painting, a more energetic work suggestive of landscape, the dark indigo colour gives a depth.

The Colour Field series and other paintings followed on from my installation works investigating mechanisms using light and colour to shift the perception of 3D space. In these 2D works I am purposely creating a space with no ground, shadow, line or gestural mark. The titles are named as a literal statement for identifying each work and to avoid directing a specific meaning, allowing the viewer to generate their own experience or feeling rather than a thought. They could be reflections on a moment, awareness of the subtlety of colour interaction, spatial expansion or alteration through a colour intervention.

The aim for this work is to create a floating space to generate an expansive experience.

  • an original one off painting
  • artists quality oils on canvas stretched over hardwood or pine frame
  • packaged securely in protective wrapping
  • work signed and titled on reverse side with Letter of Authenticity
  • no signature on front to not distract from floating field
