I regularly look down this lane while waiting for my morning flat white from a corner coffee shop. It intrigued me why a relatively small building had such a large air-conditioning system. Until one day I realised that it was an optical illusion – the cooling towers actually belonged to a large shopping mall obscured behind the modest buildings along the lane. They just appear to be floating on the building in front.
