Coy Koi by Sue Hill –

Sue began this canvas as an abstract using various art materials such as ink and water-soluble crayons but soon developed into a more realistic painting of a fish pond.

Fish, water and plants have always fascinated Sue, so when she discovered a large man-made fishpond in front of an old workers cottage on a suburban Melbourne street, she took some photos of it through the fence, which served as references for this large acrylic painting.   The fish were varied in size and shape and the lily ponds and other foliage partly hid them.

Sue has sealed the painting with a matt varnish and painted the sides black.  It is wired and ready for hanging.  It is signed on the back.
