“Crossing 5th Avenue in Autumn” by Kerry Inkster

I work from found and created photographs and this image caught my attention because of the solitary man fighting the rain walking through what is immediately identifiable as New York. I was attracted to the limited colour palette that aptly describes the fall colours.
This painting is painted using a combination of high quality enamel paint and high quality artist acrylic paints and mediums from Matisse, Golden, and Liquitex Professional Spray Paint. The paintings surface has a beautiful, expressive, at times matt, and at times satiny-gloss, and high gloss finish. I love to be able to look across the face of a painting and see the history of paint application in all its forms, and this painting has this. I used an acrylic board to paint on as I was wishing to explore depth from the see-through front surface to that painted back surface. Painted onto PVC to explore its qualities to provide depth. This painting has been professionally framed and is signed on the back. As this is a relatively heavy piece I recommend hanging it directly from the two D rings that I supply on the back of the painting, not from the wire. Noting that the painting mount is made of wood and is subject to environmental influences such as humidity which may create short term movement in the board/mount hence why I recommend 2 hooks holding the artwork. Signed on the back.
