Dancing with Costica – Corvo by Jane Long

Dancing with Costică came about when I was looking to do practice restoration and stumbled across the Costica Ascinte archive. I fell in love with the images and wanted to bring them to life. But more than that I wanted to give them a story.

I wanted there to be some ambiguity about the images. Things that are almost real or not quite right. That’s why I like to place them in a slightly surreal context. But it’s up to the viewer to determine if the characters are good or bad, light or dark.

Digitally composited photograph. Hand signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity. White mat and frame.

Materials: Printed with archival pigment inks onto 308 gsm photo rag. 40 cm print, 61 x 61.5 cm frame.
