As an artist not all works go to plan. Yes, we are just as human as the rest of us and sometimes make a blunder. We get the colour scheme wrong or the shape wrong from where we initially want to go with a painting.

This piece was initially an accidental boo boo that I chose to embrace and nuture. Afterall sometimes in life you just need to embrace the momentum and see where you end up.

With a new year of 2023 I wanted to embark on a new series that retained my figurative nature but delved back into more abstract. The intention was to use more repetative colour that melded with smaller strokes to my other series. That part I nailed! Yes sometimes we get things right too. However as the painting developed the motion was not forming the right figurative shape. So instead I chose to embrace the natural direction of the painting and move forward. Let the story naturally take shape in a traditional abstract format instead. Afterall as in life sometimes you need to pivot and change direction, but always continue to move forward.

In the end, the result was a delicious delight of colourful motion moving in different directions. A beautifully infused collection of rawness to tempt the senses with touch and sight. No longer a blunder, this piece had beauty and substance in its own right given the love it needed to progress and move forward, all be it in a different direction.

A perfect reminder to follow the momentum of life and embrace change, new ideas, new starts and fresh inventions. Who knows this may be my new accidental series for 2023.
