Additional Information

Jane’s painting Desperado shows a woman downtown on a Saturday night. With its garish red background and the woman’s sultry appearance the painting hints at prostitution – and although the woman is smiling seductively, her gaze out of the picture frame implies that she wants to escape. Hence the title Desperado – which means a desperate woman in Spanish. Despite these hints at prostitution, the viewer is left unsure whether it is simply a painting of a young carefree girl out seeking a good time on Saturday night. To create her painting Jane appropriated a photo from a 1950s pulp detective magazine. This acrylic painting on canvas is ready to hang and has beautiful acrylic colors and a gloss varnish finish. The main colors in this wall art are red and lime green.
Jane Ianniello is a well-known Brisbane artist who has been finalist for all the major prizes for the past few years – Lethbridge 10,000, Rotary Art Spectacular, Moreton Bay Art Awards, Noosa Art Award, Stanthorpe Art Prize. Jane has also exhibited at various Brisbane and Gold Coast galleries. Jane will courier in a sturdy cardboard box. Ready to hang with d-rings and picture wire.
