Dive Right In by Maggi McDonald

There is something about the ocean in winter, I love when it’s a bit blustery and wild and the deep water is darker…I sat by the ocean, listening to the waves crashing on the sand, smelling the salty air and contemplating life and everything in between…

A new colour story for this series of abstract beachscapes and landscapes.

I’ve given myself the freedom to play and experiment in the studio and this has been an intensely satisfying excercise and a fresh new direction for my art. The interesting thing is that I am using the same tools, paint and colours with the results being so different yet still very familiar to my original style. These artworks are created with thick layers of paint and a palette knife.

Acrylic on hand stretched canvas framed in a Tasmanian Oak floating frame.

Created in my Sydney studio X
