Earthenware Vase, a simple image of an item that can be found in any home. I love Retro 70s Style, it’s the art of my generation. Something about the 50s, 60s and 70s always draws me in. Maybe it’s the liveliness and pizzazz that reminds me of that time or maybe it’s the resonating colors and feeling it conveys.

Mid-Century Modernism was a vision of the future and progress, a utopian way of living. A time where art aimed for expressiveness and a decorative effect. Geometry of the shapes were used to transmit energy and a lively and irregular surface gave a more tactile tone, playing with space and three-dimensionality.

My palette is bold and bright, the colours echoing with the vitality of the 70s.

Acrylic paint on stretched canvas, with gallery finished edges matching the face,

It is finished in a satin varnish (please note that all images are taken before the varnish to reduce reflection). Back of the canvas is professionally finished.
