Endless Field Drive-by by Sam Askin

The Pacific Highway in Queensland is not renowned for much other than being boring and in need of a lot of maintenance. But this view on this day! You have to be ready for those little moments, and I can’t get over how unsuspectingly stunning this field in central Queensland was after recent rain. The endless grass faded into panoramic mountains, the grass was SO green, and the trees stood out incredibly against the blue of the mountain backdrop, as though they had been speared into the ground at evenly spaced intervals forever. I’ve driven that road a lot of times as a child and an adult, but I don’t remember ever coming across such a striking landscape in such a monotonous moment. Fence post in the foreground, cows (dots) and agricultural buildings in the background as customary human influence in this otherwise unadulterated scene.
