Factory Fresh Obsolete: by Brendan Walsh (ColdGhost)

Several failed attempts have been made by Silicon Valley companies to launch wearable tech glasses, that will apparently improve all of our lives….

I dunno, maybe we don’t want the data on everything we look at to be feed back to advertisers to sell us more stuff we don’t need, or maybe im wrong?!..

The mixed media work was created in canvas. I used spray packs, paint pens and acrylic used to create the work and then the canvas was painted black around the edges and is ready to hang as is.

This original Artwork is a continuation of my current series, playfully exploring the merging of Man & Machine.

Childhood fantasies of future technology from last century, Astro Boy Cartoons & Robot Comics, collide with the reality of this Century.

Into the future we stride, smart phones in hand, typing all our personal information into Apps, our likes & dislikes, our exact location being tracked by satellites.

I agree to all T’s & C’s and tick the box; I’m not a Robot.

My art is directly influenced by Graffiti in City Laneways, Vintage Billboards and other weathered surfaces & is also inspired by my love of gestural abstraction and my obsession with using spray paint.

Insitu examples are not to scale.
