“Fire Study – No 1” by PLAYlogo. Photographed in high resolution using the renowned Sony FE 90mm Macro G OSS prime lens, this photo features glowing coals, coal bricks, and burning logs. One of a series of “Fire Study” shots used also in a music video. Some backstory from the artist:
‘I had been planning a camping trip to Dunphys Campground in the  Blue Mountains near Sydney for some time just to take a series of high resolution photos and videos of a (very large) campfire or bonfire. After taking some initial shots late in the session of the coals just as they were, I tried fiddling with them and evening them out with a stick. When I reviewed the photos, I decided I preferred the initial shots, and especially how this one shows a burning log upper right, which gives the coals some context. I also like how the bright hotspots are serendipitously quite evenly spaced, whilst the distribution of elements is otherwise quite organic and natural.’
Photographing fire is tricky. One has to balance exposure against the natural flickering movement due to the hot gases. This high resolution photo hits the sweet spot, and in the full resolution version you can even see the hot gas haloes around the coals, which help make the picture itself “glow”.
Available in one size 20×16″ (51x41cm) as a Lucia Metallic print mounted ready for hanging in the compact, super long-lasting, modern Acrylic Float Frame format (sealed behind quality 3mm acrylic and with no frame border), perfect for showing off the bright colours.
