Additional Information

Flourish is an abstract-impressionistic conceptual artwork on a loose recycled canvas (from 100% plastic bottles) and basically has a similar concept to my earlier paintings Forever Blue and Got to move on (both sold)
We people and our environment and living organism grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly congenial environment. Now this environment is threatened and trees, forests, and land is now becoming more and more sparse. Although we know forests and trees are our life saviors for the future we still cut them down with incredible speed. While I was working on this painting some shapes of mushrooms started to appear amongst other interesting things and when I searched for the meaning of mushrooms I found that mushrooms have the ability during their life cycle to emerge from darkness and decay and are often associated with spiritual growth, enlightenment, and rebirth. This gave me hope as I always think the human race is like a mushroom on earth, we blow up our own precious environment but maybe that is necessary to help for transformation and regrowth in a more sustainable world.

There’s some eco grief about it. “Ecological grief – the mourning that takes place when we lose parts of the natural world – is likely to affect more of us in the future” (TheConversation.com).
Besides being a lovely colourful flourishing piece for your wall it’s also a very busy, full-of-life artwork, which I hope will make people sit down and wonder what this vibrant piece of art is all about and will become a starting point for conversation and discussions.
