Flowers with Dark Background by Emma Kelly

This artwork depicts a simple image of flowers with dark blue and almost black background.  The flowers are a bright red depicted using fine brushstrokes.  The flowers are at the center of the painting.  Emma has also outlined the flowers in a thick black color to make them stand-out.  This painting in heavily influenced by Margaret Preston who uses block prints for her work.

This painting is a one-off, original stand-alone painting.  Overall the painting invites the onlooker to look at color and flowers in a different way with the use of contrast, thick black lines and textured highlights.

The painting is 34.5cm height x 28cm width.  It is on stretched canvas and unframed.
