Garden at Durella Station by MANDY MCGUIRE is a small intimate assemblage of found objects that makes reference to the artist’s life. While living in an isolated part of Queensland on a large cattle station, she suffered from extreme loneliness. It was suggested to her that she grow a garden. This imperfect arrangement in a torn box, symbolises the artist’s humble endeavour to make a life in central Queensland. The chosen objects are honest and weather-beaten and each item was gathered from various locations from as far west as The Sturt Stoney desert. The artwork is framed to intentionally appear as a museum artefact.
