Ghost Wood – by Kerry-Anne Knibbs – Hello, and thank you for taking a closer look!

“I have a deep appreciation for symbols and abstract forms, seeing them as catalysts that embody energy in its purest form. In Feng Shui we find that artworks are one of the eight key elements used to attract positive energy and set intentions.”

This painting draws inspiration from the spectral presence of Australia’s native ghost gums—trees that seem to shimmer between worlds with their pale bark and silent grace. In many ancient spiritual traditions, nature is understood to be alive with sacred presence. In Japan, the concept of kami speaks to this: spirits that reside in natural earthly elements while also existing in another realm.

Ghost Wood is a quiet meditation on this belief—that we are not separate from the earth or our ancestors, but intimately connected. It suggests that energy is eternal, shifting forms but never ending, continuing on in the spiritual realms and in sacred natural places—mountains, forests, and yes, in the ghost gums themselves.

From a Feng Shui perspective wood symbolises growth, creativity, expansion, and new beginnings – but the mood of this work invites the viewer to sense the presence of something deeper.
