Synopsis
It’s like being stuck in a deep dark hole. If you’re able to, you look in the mirror and you don’t know who you are. You don’t look the same – you look tired and round. So you stop looking in the mirror. You certainly don’t feel the same. Your self love and appreciation is replaced with guilt, anxiety and resentment. Your days of productivity are gone and replaced with despair. Postnatal depression is a lonely experience. You know being a mother is tough, but maybe you’re the only one that can’t handle the pressure, the lack of sleep, the constant and relentless nappy changes, burping, settling, swaddling…

This artwork is for everyone who is stuck in the deep dark hole. You’re not alone, although it may feel that way. I promise you it gets better, every week and every month it gets easier. Your self love and self worth comes back. You will wake up one day and realise you’ve slept for 12 hours and your little one is quietly playing in their room.
