Harbour City by Geoff Hargraves – This painting shows the Freshwater Ferry passing the Opera house, headed for Circular Quay.
In the foreground I’ve painted a little Fairy Penguin.
I have owned a couple of boats during my 23 years in Sydney.
During August 1999, I sailed through an oil slick that escaped from the tanker “Laura D’Amato” moored at the oil terminal.
Up until then I often used to see Fairy Penguins all the way up the harbour and even around into the Parramatta river, and around to where my yacht was moored at Hunters hill.
Unfortunately, after this spill it was a rare sight to see any in the harbour.
This my little tribute to them.

Sides are painted black and it has a wire across the back.
