Artist Statement:

In my small buttery textured still life oil painting titled “Harmony in Blooms,” I aim to capture the delicate beauty and tranquility found within a simple arrangement of flowers. Through the interplay of light, color, and texture, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in a moment of serene contemplation.

At the center of the composition stands a glass vase, its crystal-clear form reflecting the world around it. The presence of water within the vase adds a dynamic element, introducing movement and a sense of life to the arrangement. The vase supports a cluster of lavender flower bunches, their soft purple hues radiating a soothing energy. Surrounding the blooms are lush green stems and leaves, representing vitality and growth.

The carefully chosen elements are set upon a warm brown table, grounding the arrangement and establishing a sense of stability. Its natural tones create a harmonious contrast against the vibrant floral palette, emphasizing the delicate balance between nature and human intervention.

The textured brushwork and buttery application of oil paint add depth and tactility to the composition. Through the use of impasto techniques, I aim to convey the richness and physicality of the subject matter. Each stroke of the brush becomes a deliberate mark, building up the layers and capturing the intricate details of the flowers, leaves, and vase.

A subdued grey background provides a serene backdrop, allowing the floral arrangement to take center stage. By eliminating distracting elements, I create an atmosphere of tranquility, enabling viewers to focus on the interplay of light and shadow that dances across the scene.
