Heart-break wave by Astrid Dahl – A blue and green oil painting based on an ocean wave coming into shore. This artwork is a comment on how waves and water is linked to love, life birth and death. Take the Ancient Nordic culture where they put dead bodies into burning ships and launched them into the sea. That was a “sea burial”, usually of someone with a high status. Water and oceans are linked to many rituals centered around life, love, birth and death. When my father died, we took his ashes to the south of Melbourne and scattered his ashes and our tears into the ocean.
