The inspiration behind these peony paintings was a beautiful bridal bouquet, and I can see why as in the language of flowers, the peony carries the symbolic meaning of romance, compassion, good luck, prosperity, a happy marriage, and even bashfulness. In their native China, peonies are often referred to as the “queen of flowers” . “A flower does not use words to announce its arrival to the world; it just blooms.” . – Matshona Dhliwayo –
