Additional Information

Heat Reflections by Meg Shaw is an original, contemporary landscape.

Reduced from $1050 to $735.

‘Heat Reflections’ is an impression of desert areas in Australia, particularly those around the Pilbura region in WA. The composition and colours aren’t realistically created from en plein air painting, but are imagined, even exaggerated, from my memories and dreams.

My approach to this piece was intuitive. I had no particular intentions, before beginning the underpainting, of the direction it might take. As I worked, I was aware of a growing atmosphere on the canvas, as well as a translucency of colour and light that seemed like a mirage – blurred by heat.

The medium is mixed media – environmentally friendly acrylic paints, ink and charcoal. It’s painted on stretched canvas and is framed in black coated recycled pine (recycled pine may have minor marks or minor scratches).

‘Heat Reflections’ measures approximately 65 x 81 x 4 cm (portrait orientation) and is lightly textured, as brush and palette knife marks are intentionally visible.

‘Heat Reflections’ was painted with respect to The Yindjibarndi people of the Pilbura region.

The photos show the painting as a whole, in sections, in situ, in progress and the frame (front, top and back). The situ shots are virtual and are intended to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

‘Heat Reflections’ will be posted to you by Auspost, protected in a case, packed in recycled bubble wrap and wrapped in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
