Additional Information

High Street by Tanja Ackerman – Inspired by Charlotte De Witte’s dance music track “High Street,” my abstract synaesthesia painting on paper, is a bold exploration of colour, form, and movement.

The artwork bursts with a kaleidoscope of purple, green, and blue tones, each hue reflecting the sonic landscape of the music. Deep, resonant purples dominate the foreground in circular forms which pulse with my synaesthesia, in time with the foundational bass tones that anchor the composition. These purples swirl and intertwine, creating a sense of movement.

Interwoven with the purples are vibrant streaks of deep green, embodying the energetic and dynamic elements of the music. These greens glide across the background. Towers of blue, rising with bursts of intensity. These blues evoke the sharper, more piercing tones and melodies found within the music, adding contrast and complexity to the visual interpretation.

Throughout my painting, I employ fine line work to delineate and connect the various elements. These delicate lines trace the contours of the colours, creating a sense of movement and flow that mirrors the intricate rhythms and textures of Charlotte De Witte’s soundscapes.

My synaesthesia painting of “High Street” is a unique and expressive interpretation of dance music on paper. Through a masterful blend of colour, line, and form, I capture the essence of the track’s energetic atmosphere, inviting viewers to experience music through a visual lens that is both abstract and evocative.
