High Trail by Meg Shaw

Reduced price – was $1450 and now $1160.

With so many challenges around the world today, my mind travels to Victoria’s beautiful High Country for inspiration, once the ‘go to place’ of sanctuary for my family. Happy memories.

High Trail measures approx 95.5 x 95.5 cm and is framed in Tasmanian Oak. It’s ready to hang.

This original painting is a mixed media piece on stretched canvas. I’ve used gesso, environmentally friendly acrylic paint, inks and charcoal. It’s been finished with a permanent sealer.

The style is abstract, free form and contemporary landscape. There is a sense of movement through the use of lines. The image is an intuitive and imagined piece with a stained glass influence. It’s highly textured and multi-layered. I used brushes, palette knives and finger/hand painting to create the design.

As mentioned, High Trail is inspired by Dhudhuroa, Gunai-Kurnai, Taungurung, Waywurru and Jaithmathang Countries (North-Eastern Victoria, Australia). The area has a colourful mix of European and native eucalyptus trees, particularly in autumn. It shows my fascination with fractured rock formations, too. As with all my contemporary landscapes, ‘High Trail’ has an atmospheric feel, with connections to what is above and below the earth, plus what is unseen. In addition, there’s a sense of depth and dimension. A bright colour palette seemed essential to express the feel of the area.

The photos show the painting in full, in situ, close-ups and framed. Please note the situ photos are virtual and meant to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall.

High Trail will be posted to you protected in a case, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
