I was in Port Stephens, New South Wales during the 2019 bush fires. Whilst it wasn’t affected by fire the sky was shrouded in smoke from nearby fires most of the time that I was there.
One morning I was exploring the Stockton Sand dunes at sunrise when I saw the opportunity to photograph the sun through the smoke. It took me roughly twelve months to work out how I wanted to complete this artwork. I wanted to reference the sadness of the destruction but also the renewal of bushfires.
Hint of Hope is about there will always be hope in the world.
Hint of Hope is part of the Water Related series and is the companion piece to Black Sun.

The artwork is printed on Chromaluxe premium metal for a contemporary look and feel. John feels that the medium best suits his artworks. The artwork is backed by a floating hanger system. This allows the artwork appears to float off the wall.
