Home Is Where the Heart Is by Carol Forster

This piece has been handbuilt by extrusion and assemblage of hollow pieces of clay to create the house form, reflecting the complexity of home life.  After completion it has then been finished with a copper/soda glaze which, after firing has been treated with hydrochloric acid designed to attack the copper in the glaze to produce a patina similar to bronze sculptures.  The heart shape has been finished with a green crackle glaze and gold lustre to reflect the preciousness of the heart and the home.
