‘Hope and Joy’ was produced to raise money for the Brisbane Ukraine Community. The Sunflower is a symbolic flower of the Ukraine. This print is number 11 of an edition of 14 hand cut and hand printed. I donated 10 and now I have four left for Art Lovers. In this milti-coloured reduction lino print I have used a single linoleum block to create all my layers of colour for the final image. The process involved progressively carviung away areas of the same block, printing each colour, and then carving further before printing the next layer. This process ‘reduces’ the amount of lino remaining with each layer, making it a permanent and irreversible process that requires meticulous planning, as mistakes cannot be corrected.
