This is a semi abstract, surrealist work. I have been using flowers symbolically in a series of Renaissance inspired landscapes for some time now, however, in “Hope Springs Eternal”, my intention was to use the beautiful blooms as a harbinger of hope.

Their delicate, floating, luminous petals, their very presence caressing and healing a troubled world.

It was also intentional to create a dreamlike atmosphere where the abstract landscape beneath is dissolving, surrendering to a higher presence. To the utopian idealist in me I am hoping for mankind to urgently, respectfully act on giving our planet the necessary aid to heal itself over the coming decades.

This work is painted in oils on deep canvas.
