I can’t resist using vibrant yellow, a colour that radiates positivity, hope, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. It represents bringing pure joy to someone in our lives. Whether it’s a smile or ‘hello’ to a total stranger that might transform their entire day. Or being extra kind to a partner, friend or family member when they’re going through tough times. In this body of work I explore the connection and divide between my public art and studio practices. Free of client constraints, the dynamic mark making is intuitively expressive. Resisting boundaries the resulting aesthetic invites an open dialogue.

These are the largest studio paintings on canvas I’ve created and I love working at that scale. Created over several months, the works experiment between a bold punch of colour combinations to gentler pastels.
