Additional Information

In the Shade of Giants by Sue Hill – Brisbane streetscape of tree-lined road.  Sunlight coming through leaves and shadows on road. Sue has painted this landscape of a street scene in an impressionistic way. She passes this street frequently and loves the play of light through the leaves and the shadows cast at different times of the day and year.   The street (Abbott Street, New Farm, Brisbane) is a short one, which is bordered by these giant trees which dwarf everything below them.

The streetscape is in landscape orientation. Sue primed the canvas with a bright pink colour and then sketched in the trees in charcoal.   She sealed this and painted the forms in dots and dashes of bright colour.  A figure of a man was added to give the scene scale.

The sides of the painting are black.  It is wired and ready to hang.   It is signed on the back and initialled on the front.
