My original painting is a narrative image about the importance and beauty of trees. The strange positioning of the central figure, the tree, evokes a sense of movement or travel, perhaps on another plane, or in an alternative reality. I want the audience to perceive the tree as a sentient being or a spiritual guide. I use quality oils painted on stretched fine linen. My ideas come from many years of mentally collecting imagery, otherwise known as daydreaming. My trees are well known characters taken from the landscape and repositioned in a situation to help the viewer to connect on an emotional and spiritual level, and to bring attention to the vital importance of trees and their role in our ecology.
