Additional Information

Into the Light by Kathryn Fenton – This oil painting was born out of a love of the tonal palette of an Italian painter from the Rococo Era of the eighteenth century.

The Rococo period of painting was quite ornate with luscious colours and flamboyant figures within uplifting landscapes. Yet the Venetian painter, Giovanni Tiepolo would paint vast areas of creams, taupe and buttery bleached skies and sparingly punctuate the landscape with rich reds, apricots and umbers.

This is the same palette I have tried to emulate in reverence to the great Tiepolo. Into the light as in most of my period works are full of symbolism, a familiar theme I have used once more of man verses nature.

The figures have retreated into the light and enlightenment and now with a better perspective of their past and past actions.
