Additional Information

‘Ironbark Track’ #1 is a contemporary, original Australian landscape by Meg Shaw.

The painting is an impression of The Otways in south-western Victoria, particularly Ironbark Gorge Track at Aireys Inlet – Wadawurrung and Gadubanud countries.

It’s painted on a handmade stretched canvas and is ready to hang. The handmade frame is repurposed Silver-top Ash, which is a light coloured timber. ‘Ironbark Track’ measures approximately 96.5 × 69.5 x 4 cm. I use Australian made, environmentally friendly acrylics, as my preferred medium. Several layers of a protective coating brings out the colours and seals the surface.

I hoped to capture the shades of winter by using a combination of a minimal and subtle palette – blues, greys, greens, whites, black and browns. The style is contemporary expressionism and while form is important to me, the atmosphere, harmony and emotions are more important, particularly in regards to connecting with an audience. As part of my technique, I’ve used informal design, casual strokes, colour and layers to create images of the environments I love.

Some comments I’ve received, so far are:

“Moody and serene.” “A breathtaking piece of art.” “Powerful.” “Harmonious – your work is unique and beautiful.” “Stunning and moving.” Thank you to poetess Rosa G for these words, “Deeply atmospheric … almost ethereal, it still carries the feeling of desolation. It’s nothing short of remarkable Meg.”

The photos show the finished painting, close-ups, painting in progress, in situ, the frame and the colour palette. Please note, the situ shots are virtual and meant to show what the painting might look like hanging on a wall. Upon purchase, ‘Ironbark Track’ can be posted to you via Auspost. The painting will be placed  in a protective crate, wrapped in recycled bubble wrap and packed in recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for postage. Thank you.
