Modern Painting Isolation II by Australian Artist Sarah Jane is a sophisticated painting highlighting a common thread the world has been experiencing – isolation.

The corona virus has swept the world with humanity being impacted in every corner of the globe. With governments stepping in to isolate people to stop the spread this scenario has been confronting and challenging for so many.

Like many a lack of contact with other people goes against every fibre of what being human is about after all we are social creatures by nature. So the order of isolation has provided for a real soul searching time. A time when many have felt alone and destitute with financial and emotional well being coming into question.

This painting is the second of the series and uses a slightly lighter tone as we progress through lockdown 6 months on.  Similiar to the first painting, the second in the series continues on with the use of a black canvas for a background that provides a reminder that at any point we cold quickly regress back into lockdown and its resultant isolation if we are not careful.

Lifting from the darker tones and the heaviness of the dark blues and blacks from Isolation I, Isolation II focuses on a woman. Lighter tones in pink and white shades whilst still encompassing black segments marks how unpredictable our future has become.

The isolation series is a reminder that many are suffering in this unprecidented time and even though progress is occurring it is important to check in on others as darkness still sits in many.
