The inspiration for my painting’Jasmine’ was the scent of this beautiful flower in my back garden.

This scent tells me Spring is here. Not only does it smell wonderful, but looks beautiful with its creamy white flowers and rich green leaves as it sprawls over the trellis.

Jasmines are widely cultivated for the characteristic fragrance of their flowers.

Jasmines are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Eurasia, Australasia and Oceania.

Jasmine used in the perfume industry. It is used in rituals like marriages, religious ceremonies and festivals, and may be found around entrances to temples

Only the species Jasminum sambac is edible. All other jasmine species are poisonous. This is a pity as I had intended drying my jasmine and adding it to green tea, one of its traditional uses. It is also used in desserts.
