Additional Information

My original painting is a narrative image about the importance and beauty of trees. The key figure – the tree – evokes a sense of movement or travel, perhaps on another plane, or in an alternative reality. The road below, symbolizes our past, and the many roads we have travelled. I want the audience to perceive the tree as a sentient being or a spiritual guide. My ideas come from many years of collecting imagery, both with the camera and memory. My trees are well known characters taken from the landscape and repositioned in a situation to invite the viewer to connect on an emotional and spiritual level, and to perhaps consider people’s place in the natural world.
