This small artwork on Strathmore heavy weight mixed media paper was made in Italy, Tuscany, during our six months stay there this year. The incredible beautiful country side had to be an inspiration. So every day during the siesta time I would do some work on the kitchen table, I just had to put straight down my impressions, feelings and love for this country side. At the time I was making this work we were in the middle of a huge forest staying in the very old Castello di Tocchi. It was extremely hot during this summers heatwave and everything was dry but beautiful as well. Because we had no aircon I would paint around 7pm when the light was very nice and we could open the windows to let a cool breeze come in. So the heat really has been reflected in this little work. I love the colors I created with a simple palette as we were traveling. The discovering of some beautiful master paints in the local art shops were a treat.
