This is the third work on paper I created while on our long amazing holiday in Italy. Living in the Umbrian countryside was an awesome experience and of course it had to be an enormous inspiration for sketches and small artworks. We rented a small apartment which had a kitchen table just big enough for the size of this mixed media artwork and my paint and brushes! There is an incredible amount of variety in the landscape. All sorts of different trees, paddocks with orzo, sunflowers coming up slowly, different greens, lots of flowers, little rocky paths between the olive yards and grapevines. Sunsets are amazing. I try to portray it in a different way, from memory and how it feels being there emotionally and physically.
