This large expressive work is part of a series inspired by my recent residency in Provence.

A common motif through this series is the majestic Les Alpilles looming in the background.

I wanted to emphasize the strong fractured light penetrating the undergrowth and trees and reflecting its shimmering

bands of colour on the pristine waterhole.

The palette used is mainly monochromatic blues and greys to make the dappled foliage and water reflections pop

that much more.

This painting is on unstretched canvas to make sending by courier easier, then its ready to be stretched by the collector’s framer.
