Additional Information

Life is a Mystery by Rosemary Legat – Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, ink pens and collage pieces on stretched canvas.

This is a unique, one of a kind piece, inspired by Judy Woods Art for Good Workshop.

The workshop takes participants through a process but the individual artist needs to add their own take and unique flair to whatever they are creating.

Starting with a very textured stretched canvas base of paint, collage and markings I applied additional abstract layers to build further interest.  Rather than keep this piece abstract I started to add specific collage pieces from my library of ephemera and different torn papers to start to create a unique visual story.

I love the look and feel of a piece of artwork which uses vintage ephemera, along with the recycling and reducing waste aspects.

I continued to add collage pieces, glazing and sketched in details, in layers to provide intertwining visual delights until I was satisfied with the woven fantasy world I had created.  This unique tapestry automatically invites the viewer to let their eyes slowly wonder around this intriguing world, taking in the many small details which can’t be seen from afar.

Life is a Mystery is finished off with a Quinacridone Gold glaze which enhanced the sepia old world charm and vintage feel that had already been created along with adding further visual warmth to my creation.

The sides of the canvas have been painted black.

Signed on the back.

Always check dimensions of the artwork please, as in situ photos are for display purposes only and may not be to scale.
