Additional Information

Lightning and Land by Donna Louise Fletcher –  An intuitive statement piece that draws on the earthy tones, energy and movement that is reflected within the Australian landscape as well as reflecting on the fragility of life.

I was inspired to create this work as a tribute to my Great Great Grandfather who, whilst mining near Peak Hill in NSW in 1891 was hit by a lightning strike which took his life. He was 34 years old and left a wife and 4 small children behind.

As a nod to his mining background gold paint appears throughout the piece, it is not immediately apparent until the work is lit and then the veins of gold glisten giving the piece another life.

Colours used within the work include; Australian ghost gum, Light red ochre, Brown madder, Gold, Naples yellow, Orange, Sky blue, Black and White.

It is an original artwork and no prints will be available.
