Have you ever felt lost? Unsure what your future holds, you start to second guess who you are and what you’re about.

I have definitely experienced this feeling and it came at the end of a break up. Whether it is divorce or separation it can be a challenging time emotionally. For me Linear XI is quite personal and likely to hit a chord with many of you out there who have experienced similar feelings.

So, lets go back in time to 2017. This marked the beginning of my Linear series. A series that I have been drawn back to for 2022 as I continue the simplicity of Black and White.

However 2017 was also a challenging year for me personally. Still finding my way and picking up the pieces after a relationship breakdown. During this year I used to take some time out to walk and reflect. Often I would find myself walking to the top of Brownhill, South Australia. At the top sat one solo tree that I used to sit under and just take in the sweeping views of Adelaide city. Its here that I found peace again and slowly started to heal and rebuild.

So it seemed natural for me to paint this piece in the very spot that gave me faith again. A place where I always felt someone was watching over me trying to help get back on my feet.

Let me tell you walking up that steep hill with a canvas and all my other goodies was no easy feat, but well worth it. It allowed me to capture the right energy for the painting.

For those currently stuck in that whirlwind of change remember to take one day at a time. You will look back in time and realise how far you have come.
