Little Red Riding’s Hood by Karen Chappelow

Little Red Riding Hood/Red Cap-both of these fairytales tell the story of Red Riding Hood and how she doesn’t follow the path, does as she is told and what will happen to little girls if they don’t follow the correct path. So I’m giving her the power back and changing the story up a bit where the prey becomes the predator and evens up the odds somewhat.

I am exploring the randomness of words, how David Bowie and William S Burroughs composed works and the Dadaists movement in general. So I placed a call out to my friends asking a few questions (below) and then cut each answer into strips, numbered them and then randomly selected 1-5 of each category to compile a nonsensical paragraph in which then I am trying to make sense of nonsense-here is the first one.

The hand mirror reflecting the viewers face, personality, potential and possibilities her cape represent the flames from burning out

  1. Favourite song, lyric or line-“How many other freaks living in me now”
  2. Favourite movie/book quote-“rather burn out than fade away”
  3. Favourite slogan/protest line or statement-“when someone shows you who they are-believe them the first time”
  4. What advice would you give your younger self-“do it anyway”
  5. What would you do differently-“relationship stuff
